Bremerton Housing Authority is a small public, local government agency that provides affordable housing to the Kitsap area community. Our mission is to provide high quality, stable and sustainable housing and related services to people who have limited financial means. Our work is to help our clients to become economically self-sufficient, while at the same time strengthen communities. We use our public and private resources efficiently and effectively. The Community Resources Coordinator/Family Self Sufficiency (FSS Coordinator) works with families receiving subsidy through BHA to set personal goals that guide a path which leads to economic and social independence. The FSS Coordinator provides case management for FSS participants, conducts needs assessments, provides referrals to services and trainings, and coaches participants to stay on track to achieve their goals. FSS Coordinators also maintain all Supportive Services Program records, build partnerships with service providers, and report on program outcomes. May provide back up duties for other programs such as the Resident Opportunities in Self Sufficiency (ROSS) grant if necessary.

Required Education and Experience:

Education

Associate's Degree (two year college or technical school) Required, Field of Study: Social work or related field. Bachelor's Degree (four year college or technical school) Preferred, Field of Study: Social work or related field

 

Experience

2 plus years of experience in creating marketing materials, creating reports through databases or excel, and writing case notes

2 plus years of experience in social services

General knowledge of low income housing programs would be helpful.

 

Computer Skills

Experienced user of Microsoft Office programs, including Excel, Work, and Outlook. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, ten-key machines and fax machines. May need to troubleshoot routine issues with computers and software in the the computer lab.
 

Certifications & Licenses

HUD Certified Housing Counselor, or similar certification must be obtained within the first four months in the position.

 

Other Requirements

Must possess a valid driver’s license for use in Washington State and with the continued ability to be covered under Bremerton Housing Authority’s auto insurance policies.

 

Must obtain a Washington State Food Handlers Permit within 14 days of starting the position.

Must pass background check indicative to the position requirements and in accordance to RCW 43.43.830 and 43.43.845.


Bremerton Housing Authority has the discretion to accept any other equivalent combination of education and experience when relevant.

BHA is based in Bremerton, Washington. This is a great place to live and/or work because, there is a ferry directly to downtown Seattle, it’s close to plenty of outdoor activities, and has a vast amount of education and performing arts opportunities available.
